Andy,
The Flyer records 25 minutes (on a 4 gig drive, 50 or so on two 4 gigs
which you need for A-B Roll) When you digitize the raw footage, you then
cut it up into clips. As you make you finished clips, they ARE just in
and out points of the raw footage.
Basically, it's like linear, except that when you have all you clips
tuned (in & out points right) you can dump footage not needed in your
final project. If you run tight, you just delete unused footage and
record new footage in it's place.
As far as Warp Engine - Yes more ram will give you more animation (ON THE
OLD TOASTER SYSTEM) but with the Flyer, that doesn't apply. The ram
constraint was realtime playback of Swithcer Anims. Anims designed to
run from ram (so that single framng wouldn't be neccesary).
However teh Flyer IS a single framing device (for all practical purposes)
and therefore you are not limited by ram, only HD space. (A 25 minute
anim on a 4 gig drive!) 18 megs is quite sufficient for standard anims -
Flying logos and such... If you someday get into high-end animations
such as Babylon 5, Star Trek, SeaQuest, etc... then more ram might be
neccesary.
Hope this answers your questions.
